Newburyport, Mass. by Patrick J. Hally Catholic Priest23.  She was born Abt. 1850 in Ireland.  He married (2) Mary Abt. 1890.  She was born Jun 1844 in Ireland.

Notes for Andrew Casey:
In the 1900 census, the census taker had written 31 for the number of years Andrew was married. The 31 was scratched out and 10 was written in. Andrew must have given the number of years for his first marriage by mistake.

The 1900 census has 0 children for Mary and Andrew and the 1910 census says she has one child, however the child isn't listed on the census. The child would be less then 10 years old.

A FATAL FALL

John S. Casey Met Death At The Coal Pocket Yesterday

He made a misstep and Dropped 27 feet. He was a Popular Prominent Young Man

A fatal accident at the coal pocket last evening added another to the list of fatalities that has kept the good citizens of our city in a state
of excitement the past few weeks.

About 5:30 o'clock last evening John S. Casey, while at work on the runway at the yard of the Philadelphia & Reading coal company,
made a misstep and fell a distance of 27 feet to the wharf below.

It was quite dark at the time and it is probable that in stepping across he slipped and could not save himself. When picked up he was on
his hands and knees with his head resting on the ground and was insensible.

He was taken at once to the company's office and medical aid summoned. Doctors Tigh and Healy quickly responded, but their skilled
eyes told them at once that the unfortunate man was beyond earthly help.

A stretcher was brought and the young man was taken to his home on Independent Street. It was found upon examination that a number
of ribs on the left side were broken and that the skull was fractured.

He never regained consciousness after the fall and died at about 5:30 this morning. Young Casey was a bright, smart, quick-witted man
and one that always made those happy around him. He was an excellent singer and took the part of "Andy" in the late rendition of the popular
drama, "Peep 0' Day" at city hall a little over a week ago.

The deceased was a member of the Columba Catholic Union, who took great interest in that organization.

He leaves a widow and one child, a father and mother and three brothers, one of whom is Council-man Andrew J. Casey of ward 5.

Young Casey was a man that will be sadly missed by his acquaintances, as he brought sunshine wherever he was.
He was an honest, hardworking man, and the whole community sympathizes with his bereaved family.
